  1. Will says:

I’ve been getting a lot of questions on if you all offered camera bags since I bought my 2008 Grown Commute a few weeks ago. Seems like at least once a day I get asked. It’s def something I’d like to see in the future, since I’m a photojournalist and carry gear with me nearly 24/7.

  2. Matt says:

Instead of the domke inserts, I’d highly recommend the Tenba Photo Insert for messenger bags. It’s cheaper, and more customizable than the domke ones. Here’s a link:

    http://www.adorama.com/TBPDPI.html?searchinfo=messenger%20insert&item_no=2

  3. Kunal says:

Do you plan on ever making a camera bag though? I’ve been waiting for a while for you to make one since I love my Timbuk2 bags, but don’t know how much longer I can hold off…
And oh, I’d be happy to ‘beta test’ camera bags for you if you need!

  4. William Beem says:

I was in your store a couple days ago looking for a camera bag solution. You have a great lady working there who showed me this blog post and helped me understand how I can build my own bag with these inserts.

Even so, I’d still like to see you develop a camera bag. It’s not just about the lenses and camera bodies. Cards, filters, cleaning supplies, model release forms – they all need a home.

  5. mRICHARDS says:

PLEEEEEAAAAASE get a camera messenger in production. Something along the lines of the classic messenger/laptop. I need one yesterday. I don’t want to buy and hack, I want one ready to go. Out the door. I can’t ride with a big Domke cube on my back anymore and I hate backpacks.

  6. Paul Gibson says:

Another person here wishing you made a messenger style camera bag!

  7. Chris says:

    Seriously.

The world really needs a camera bag that looks like a timbuk2 bag as opposed to, well, a camera bag (blech).

  8. eileen says:

a camera bag would make Timbuk2 the ultimate producer of bags. That is my only wish of Timbuk2! I bet sales would fly through the roof.

  9. Mel says:

Add my name to the list of folks that come to the website every few months to check and see if you have developed a camera bag.
    Please!!

  10. supershady says:

just found this after turning up empty in my search for a timbuk2 home for my new dsrl. so one more voice for u all to start sewing for us!

  11. darrene says:

count me in for a camera bag, I will gladly pre-order/pay, etc. for a real bag.

  12. Ben says:

I would love to buy a messenger bag that could function as a laptop bag and camera bag

  13. Gordon says:

I want to be added to the list of customers wishing for a camera bag.

    thanks

  14. Tomas says:

I have not bought a camera bag as desperate as I am right know because I just know as soon as I do, Timbuk is going to come out with exactly what I want. Please hurry!!!

  15. Doug says:

I’d like to see a bare bones lens type bag from you folks ala shootsac and BBB. Yours would rock and these small lightweight bags are perfect taking on shoots instead of a bulky and heavily padded bag…

  16. Content Pig says:

Add me to the waiting/wanting list. I need a messenger style camera bag pronto!

  17. Kelly says:

PLEASE make bags for DSLR cameras. I love my TimBuk2 messenger for my laptop and really want a similar bag for toting around my camera. I am not asking for anything crazy, just something that can hold the body/lens and maybe a few accessories. Pretty please, with sugar on it?

  18. Sonya says:

Resistance is futile. We want a Timbuk2 camera bag. :)

  19. stacey says:

Count me in too! Just a few mod’s to your standard messenger would be ideal – put a handle on the top, add in the extra padding on the bottom & back like the commute, but without the laptop sleeve, and add inserts! If the commute had velcro closures, I’d be buying one of those to hack, because I love the easy access to the front pockets. I’m also looking to carry wallet, cell phone, glasses case, etc… in those. I need a camera bag / purse & timbuk2 seems the closest I can find, so I’m going to hack a messenger bag & hope it meets my needs. I’d sure be buying a standard camera bag if you made one!

  20. Sheila says:

When I received the email “Seriously New” from Timbuk2 I thought, “this is it! Finally a camera bag.” Sadly I was disappointed, again. Hacking a back is okay but not as good as a bag specifically designed by you guys for a camera.
Please add me to the list of folks waiting, waiting, waiting, for a Timbuk2 designed home for my camera and lenses.

  21. Dave says:

I keep checking for one too! I got excited when I received your email about new products for 2009, but tragically – no camera bag.

  22. Andrew says:

Agree with statements already posted. I own both crumpler and timbuk2 bags. Timbuk2 is the better quality bag. Crumpler is more forward thinking and sells padded compartments for their bags specifically for cameras. The digital photography market is huge and the majority of patrons are young and desire functionality and style. The failure of timbuk2 to design and market a messenger style camera/computer bag is a failure to tap into and capture an existing market. Those in charge are blind and should be at risk for losing their jobs. the overwhelming plea for this product is real! Even photo geeks would rather NOT carry a lowepro bag that labelled them as such.

  23. zack says:

Put me down for 1 camera bag please!

  24. Mike says:

I was over at timbuk2-jp.com and they seem to have an insert available! is this a true timbuk2 design or something they have whipped up?

  25. meese says:

please please make a camera bag

  26. ControSix says:

I just ordered all of the Domke inserts from Amazon to pull off this mod, but I would still MUCH rather have a legit Timbuk2 camera bag!

  27. Francisco De La Cruz says:

    Hi timbuk2-jp has it,
    https://www.timbuk2-jp.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=59

    Why don’t you???

    Cheers, Francisco

  28. Susan Nolan says:

I like the one from japan.. i would order the camera bag from there if i could.. why don’t we have them here?
    Naples, Fl

  29. Tom says:

I would like one too… please.

  30. Hoc says:

Please make Tumbuk2 camera bag!!! I love the color, style, and fabric…Been waiting like forever..I’m sure this will be a huge demand…

  31. paul says:

The Japanese Timbuk2 insert looks sweet!
Cocotte Equipment out of Montreal also has a camera insert for their messenger bags.
    http://cocotte-equip.com/english/items/capa.html

    Worth investigating?

  32. Daniel says:

Add my crossed-fingers to the list of photographers wishing you guys made a camera bag. Preferably something that had a space for a laptop, plus the camera, a few lenses, filters, batteries, cords and the other accessories.

I’m with the others in saying that I’d gladly pre-order/fund a bag if it were to happen.

  33. jen says:

Thank goodness for relatives! I emailed my cousin in the Philippines about the camera bag. Yay! 4 stores by his work carry the Japanese version. I am anxiously waiting for photos of what they may have available. Luckily, my aunt is going in June and she can bring it back for me!!

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

  34. Gwen says:

Just read a great review of your awesome customer service on Consumerist and would love to get a bag from you.
    Why no camera bags?
Count me in as another photographer that would love to buy one!

  35. Rick says:

I found out about Timbuk2 after reading this link on Consumerist.

    http://consumerist.com/5280351/timbuk2-really-really-wants-you-to-be-happy-with-their-bags

The very first think I looked for is a camera back for my Nikon D90 to nest in. Unfortunately there is none to be found.

  36. Linda says:

Has anyone tried to make a camera bag with a cargo tote?

  37. hoc says:

I think we should gather & sign petitions & submit to Timbuk2 CEO or board members for camera bags. We’ve been waiting like forever. I dislike all other camera bags… Timbuk2 is the best in qualities, colors, styles & durabilities.

    • Lizzy says:

Hoc. Ugh! Thank you for continuing to speak out about this . . . the more you do the more likely it is that we’ll make it happen (finally!).

  38. Erik says:

Make a camera bag please. I’m already a customer using a small messenger and your hemp laptop backpack (excellent product).

One request regarding the camera bag – make it look much like all of your other products so it doesn’t stand out as a “camera” bag – both for the non-nerdy factor and so it doesn’t scream “steal me!”

    Thanks!

  39. Hannah says:

Please, please, please design a camera bag. I am ready to buy one now! I have two messenger bags that my husband and I use and we love them! The only thing I have found that I would consider buying is a ShootSac, but it very expensive and I’m sure not as durable as a Timbuk2 bag.

Why are you delaying when you clearly have orders ready to be placed? Think of all the consumers who didn’t post a comment. That is bad business.

When you do come around, as the previous post stated please don’t make it look like a traditional camera bag….your bag styles are superior!

Thanks much, not so patiently waiting :)

  40. Greg B says:

I’m on board here too… If you make them, they will come!!! I love my Timbuk2 laptop messenger, and recently picked up a DSLR… I was a little disappointed that T2 didn’t make a DSLR/Laptop backpack or messenger! If you make a dedicated bag for this, people will buy it. DSLRs are becoming more popular, and there aren’t many options out there that could offer the style/quality/price that T2 does.

Other than that, keep up the good work!

  41. Mike says:

If you could make a backpack DSLR bag I would buy it without even asking or caring about the price. As a proud owner of multiple T2 bags I would definitely not mind adding another one to the stable. Please make it happen. Sooner rather than later. I have a great backpack bag as is but would replace it in a heartbeat with a T2.

  42. William says:

Two years later, still no camera bag?

  43. Walter says:

It would be great if you made a backpack style camera bag similar to the Breakout Messenger with customizable inserts.

  44. daniel stark says:

we NEED a camera bag built like your messenger! I need something compact and light. Enough to fit a couple of lenses. I’m a Wedding PJ and really don’t want to have to get a shootsac. What are you waiting for?!

  45. Michael Faas says:

After years of amazing products and incredible innovation it’s time for a great camera bag.

I love to wear my courier strap over the right shoulder only and use the auxiliary strap over the left shoulder to evenly distribute the weight on both shoulders, also keeps pack on the back. No other bag producer can support this.

All we need now is a small courier bag with zipper on top like Commute for a body, flash, 70-200 and a couple other lenses.

Bag will fit snugly on a bike or skis, zipper top for quick access and the ability to swing bag around to get at your gear.

Please, please, please make us a sweet camera bag?

  46. Joan says:

I too would buy a timbuk2 camera bag TODAY if there was one available, no lie. I can’t hold out much longer…please don’t make me go to one of your competitors.

  47. Joan says:

Oooh, Lizzy, you’re such a tease! My vote would be messenger style vs. true backpack. I’d be too worried about theft to put my gear in a backpack and away from my line of sight. I agree with the other posters in that it should not scream “camera bag.” BTW, please let me know if you want me to beta-test!!!

  48. Adam says:

I have a timbuk2 laptop bag. Love it use it all the time but I would buy a camera bag from you right now. So for now I will wait until you make one. If my camera gets broken while I’m waiting it’s your Fault. Jk but really.

  49. Jess says:

I have been searching high and low for a camera bag that is also functional but also works for my style as a photographer! timbuk2, as a loyal fan, PLEASE make a camera bag!! I already own enough bags that another one might put my boyfriend over the edge, but a camera bag might be worth it :)

  50. Hannah H. says:

This is a different Hannah from the one above, but I agree with her completely (especially about the keeping it looking like a normal bag)! Get on it Timbuk2! You have customers salivating at the idea of having a ready made camera bag! We’re ready to dump our money on you!

  51. Rose says:

Can you give us any rough time estimate please? We won’t hold you to it, but like everyone else I’m going without a camera bag at all waiting for you to make one. So if you can give us a rough idea, like 6 months, or 2 years, etc. that would be great. Thanks for listening!

  52. Nick says:

Maybe you could look into producing your own range of camera inserts, then we could order matching inserts for ANY of your bags.

For me that would be perfection as I love the ability to design my own bags.

  53. Thad says:

Here in Tokyo, Bic Camera sells the classic Timbuk2 messenger bag fully fitted for camera gear. It looks like it came that way from the factory, so looks like they might be making one folks.

  54. Jackie says:

And the list grows! So how many more have to begg, plead for another great product? It would make an awesome bag like no other on the market. Imagine T2Photo or Photo2 by Timbuk2? Well anyway let us know when!

  55. Veronica says:

Add me to the list too. I own a bag, wallet, and laptop sleeve and would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have a camera bag that fits my shiny new Nikon D80 and an extra lens.

  56. Jessica says:

PLEASE make one!!! I have been very patient and yes, I would love to beta test whatever is in production. I need something super cool to put my new camera.

  57. Lizzy says:

    Holiday this year guys!

  58. Ed says:

That is great news! I’m hoping that by holiday you mean July 4th ;) I have at least 6 T2 bags and am in desperate need of a new camera bag (using a crumpler right now) and I would rather wait a bit and get a nice bag from you than invest in something else. Thanks!

  59. Fisher says:

I am reading all these comments about camera bags and thats why am here. When will they in production? I just bought a canon 7d and multiple lens, now i need a bag!!

  60. Neil says:

Will the camera bag be made avilable for exclusive Promotive meambers?

  61. Sharky says:

    Hello
Please update the info regarding the camera bags.

  62. Jon says:

Count me in on the “I need a Timbuk2 camera bag” list. Any word on a release date? Is it still on track for the holidays?

  63. mark says:

Wow!! people been asking for a camera bag for 2 years and still nothing? I called few months ago and was told that there’s one coming out in June.

  64. Lizzy says:

Not June but 100% this month. Look for news next week.

  65. qiangxu says:

That is great news! I’m hoping that by holiday you mean July 4th ;) I have at least 6 T2 bags and am in desperate need of a new camera bag (using a crumpler right now) and I would rather wait a bit and get a nice bag from you than invest in something else. Thanks!

  66. qiangxu says:

I was out with my friends at karaoke

  67. Lizzy says:

The wait is over! Our camera bag is officially live. Check it out: http://bit.ly/bb9jFQ and thank you VERY much for being patient.

  68. Kathy says:

Great. Now when can those of us who already have timbuk2 bags buy just the camera insert? :)

  69. Stacey says:

I agree with Kathy. Love the bags (own 3- diaper, camera, and school.) and have used it as my camera bag for a year and a half now.. It would be fantastic if we could buy the camera insert seperate!!

  70. FBMC Employee Fringe Benefits Management Administration ... says:

Have you thought about adding some relevant links to your article? I think it will really enhance everyones understanding.

  71. Dan says:

Glad that you have come out with a camera/laptop bag. But is it going to be available in a large as I have a 16″ laptop and by your true fit sizing it won’t fit in the medium.

  72. John Lee says:

    I own 3 TB2 bags!

It would be fantastic if we could buy the camera insert separate!!

  73. David says:

I just bought a custom made medium sized laptop messenger to replace my 90′s era messenger. Was going to get the camera bag but didn’t want the colors and materials offered. I should have ordered a Large bag, because with all the new interior pockets and whatnot, the bag will be pretty full, if I try to get a camera insert in there. I was told by someone at TB2 that the camera insert will be sold separately very soon. She didn’t give me an exact date though.

So if youre going to stuff your bag with camera gear, and you’re not sure which size bag to buy, get the large one and order the cinch straps at the bottom, you can always crank them down.

Nice bag though. Love all the pockets.

  74. Elinor Amyx says:

Hello! I could have sworn I’ve been to this website before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyways, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back often!
