4th of July Paella

I live in the densest neighborhood in San Francisco. While it’s not exactly known for parks, the Tenderloin has its fair share of secret gardens for enjoying BBQs and cocktails on sunny afternoons. This year on the 4th fo July we found ourselves in one of these secret gardens. But instead of bringing the standard salad or dessert to my neighbor’s garden party, I decided to bring my paella pan and demonstrate my Spanish cooking skills.

My paella pan got packed into Miquel’s Swig, which conveniently freed his hands for carrying a 30lb gas tank down the hill.

I carried the slightly lighter rice, seafood, stock and veggies for the paella. It was a hit.
