Minneapolis is America’s number one biking city, but I didn’t really believe it until I rode the city myself this weekend.
It was 75 degrees and sunny with a light breeze and there were bikes everywhere! Dedicated bike lanes, massive, glowing signs encouraging drivers to “Share the Road,” traffic-calmed streets, pleasant, wandering riverside bike paths, even a pedal pub.
A Pedal pub awaits the thirsty in Minneapolis.
A non-native, I opted for the Nice Ride bike share program. $5/day with bike kiosks everywhere, it was incredibly convenient and . . . nice.
Nice Riding through Minneapolis.
San Francisco, where is your bike share program? Minneapolis is doing bikes right. Perhaps we should trade artisanal cheese, sidewalks with stairs and kite surfing for migrating birds, immaculate streets and ice fishing?
