Red Hook Rider Neil

We’re counting down the days to the Red Hook Crit and as we get closer to the race we’re happy to introduce you to our crew of riders. First in our series of frighteningly fast cyclists is Neil Bezdek.

Neil Bezdek is a bike racer, advocate, commuter, and writer based in New York City. Originally from Colorado, Neil grew up mountain biking on singletrack outside of Denver and fell in love with road cycling as a college student while exploring the hills and canyons above Santa Barbara, California. After working as a bike messenger in New York City for one year, Neil took up road racing and competed professionally for three seasons. Now a Bike Share program administrator at city’s Department of Transportation, he continues to moonlight as a “professional amateur” at road races across the US and contributes regularly to Bicycling magazine. Neil is a two-time winner and two-time runner-up of the Red Hook Criterium, which we considers his favorite race series. In other words, this guy can ride.
