On Friday, October 11, the Timbuk2 Seattle crew threw one awesome party at the store on 7th and Pine (if a party’s success is measured by the number of kegs tapped…well then we had one hell of a time).
The event was to support our friends at MiiR, a Seattle company that makes highly functional and well-designed products that also give back to those in need. MiiR launched its campaign to fund a new line of growlers – stainless, threadless, insulated 64 oz. bottles (great for picnics!) that when purchased, will also provide someone in need with clean drinking water. Just $1 can help build wells in developing nations and provide clean water for one year.
In addition, MiiR provided stainless, limited edition pint cups for the evening, which were sold for $5 and provided tasty beer from local brewers Peddler Brewing Company for the night. Proceeds from these sales were then contributed to Bike Works, a Seattle non-profit centered around bicycles that combines youth development, community engagement, bicycle recycling and a social enterprise bike shop to help build a sustainable and healthy community.
Our friends at Postmates and Zipcar, who were more than happy to help out with the cause, as well as provide prizes for the night’s raffle, also joined us for the event.
Prizes raffled off during the evening included a MiiR Wave singlespeed bike, a customized (by MiiR) Timbuk2 Swig backpack with Postmates delivery credit, $125 in Zipcar credit, and one of the growlers.
We’re stoked to say that we sold over 300 pint cups and were able to help support the awesome community at Bike Works.
