Since 2012, Timbuk2 has sponsored the Red Hook Crit, a fixed gear semi-pro bike race ridden on the city streets of Red Hook, Brooklyn, at night, in the dark. It’s a fast, unique, exhilarating and incredibly fun race to watch. We’re proud to support the 2014 series in Red Hook, Milan, and Barcelona, there’s truly no other race like it.
To kick off the 2014 series, we made 30 units of Red Hook Crit branded Timbuk2 Especial Claro Messengers. The Claros will only be available at the race in Red Hook on March 29 and we’re giving one unit away on Facebook.
The Red Hook Crit is free to attend. Join us for the first race of the 2014 series on March 29 at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Learn more about the Crit here. And if you’re around the night before, check out the pre-race dinner.
Every year we support Crit riders, but this year we’re engaging them in a different way. We worked with Red Hook Crit founder, David Trimble, to develop a travel backpack for cyclists your roam the world, hopping from race to race. It’s a super lightweight nylon backpack that functions as a duffel and has cycling-specific pockets, but not to many of them. We just got our hands on the first prototypes and we’re really happy with them. We’ve given five to Red Hook Crit riders and we’ll tweak it based on their feedback for a late summer launch. See some early protos of the travel backpack below and stay tuned for feedback from the Red Hook Riders.
