Bike From Work Day Ride

Yesterday was debatably one of our favorite days of the year: Bike To Work Day in the San Francisco Bay Area. Streets come alive with 2-wheeled smiling bandits as we ride our way to work, school or  wherever we choose that day. It was also the 20th anniversary of celebrating bike commuting in San Francisco, a city whose bike infrastructure (hello protected bike lanes and paths) is rapidly growing, in no small part thanks to the folks at the San Francisco Bike Coalition.  In honor of the soon-to-be-national-holiday (not a bad idea, right?), a bakers dozen of folks from Timbuk2 HQ embarked on our own celebration of bike commuting: Bike from Work Day.

With a cruising time of approx 1 hour, we rode a mini-Timbuk2 peloton from our home in The Mission, through the Panhandle, stopped at a SFBC Energizer Station for some lemonade and KIND bar snacks, rolled past SF’s newest bike shop, Swell Bicycles in the Outer Sunset, and then took the Great Highway trail to our final beach side destination of beer and warmth: The Park Chalet.

Let the adventure begin!

Cruising through The Mission…

Wiggled to the Panhandle…

Rolled around Golden Gate Park…

Ducked out of Golden Gate Park and into the Outer Sunset…

To ride The Great Highway...

And end up for beers brewed on-site at the Beach Chalet.

+3 hours…

We got so inspired by our Bike from Work Day Party that we’re now hosting one at each of our stores! Seattle on May 16 (theirs is also their 1st Anniversary Party!), Denver, Chicago and SF (coming June). Happy Friday, yo!
