To say we’re excited about opening our doors in Chicago (this Saturday!), would be quite the understatement. We are so pumped to join this thriving community of bike riders (hello Chainlink), craft beer drinkers, L train riders, Lakefront runners, bladers and cruisers, blues listeners, hot dog eaters, Diivy bike share lovers, that we couldn’t not share some behind-the-scene photos of our new shop. It will be Timbuk2′s 4th store in the US, 1st store East of Colorado (we’re coming for ya East Coast), and our largest retail store to date.
And so, 5 days before our Grand Opening at 1623 N.Damen Ave At North St, we have a sneak peek at our new crash pad in the fair Windy City. Residing in an former firehouse (beautiful facade still intact) on N.Damen Ave (just north of one of the 6 corners), and next to the Potbelly’s in Bucktown, this is a Timbuk2 like you’ve never seen.
Former firehall on North Damen Ave @ North St.
Breath deep & take a load off in the new indoor parklet – free WiFi and power to refuel and connect
Exposed brick (complete with bricked in former windows) metal pipes and vertical cross walk
Naked custom workshop prepped for bicycle artifacts
And the best for last: Team Chicago!
Josh Evans, Nicole Capoccitti, Siobhan Clancy, Alex Kim, Sarah Nutt
If only their awkward family photo could be as epic as these fine ladies (and puppet)
